Immersive VR
EarthScape VR's immersive experiences recreate aspects of Overview Effect, the term given to the experience astronauts
describe when they see Earth from space. The experience is very complex and varies for each person, but astronauts often describe feelings of awe, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, and a renewed sense of self.
Gain a new perspective
Share aspects of an astronauts experience through VR without traveling to space.
Understand in an instant the importance of the planet to humankind, develop a new view of the world and your place in it.
Research led
We are carrying independent research of our VR through several universities to investigate the efficacy of and continually improve the experiences. Results have been very positive, attendees describe some of the same feelings and changes in perspective described by astronauts when they see Earth from space.
The term Overview Effect was coined by Frank White to describe the experience of seeing firsthand the reality of the Earth in space, which is immediately understood to be a tiny, fragile ball of life, "hanging in the void", shielded and nourished by a paper-thin atmosphere. From space, national boundaries vanish, the conflicts that divide people become less important.
